PHRYGIA. Apameia. Tranquillina, Augusta, 241-244. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 10.35 g, 6 h), Bacchios Kallikleos, panegyriarchos. ΦOY•CA• TPANKYΛIN/AN Draped bust of Tranquillina to right, wearing stephane. Rev. ΠA•BAKXIOY AΠAMЄΩN Roma-Athena standing facing, head to left, holding patera in her right hand and spear with her left. RPC VII 704. Extremely rare, only two examples recorded in RPC. Somewhat porous, otherwise, very fine.


A panegyriarchos was the head of a festival assembly. It is a rare title on coins and only occurs as such at Apameia.
